When I set out to learn how to train dogs I quickly found out that there are so many methods and so many people saying "this is the best way" or "this is the only way."
What I found was a lot of outdated methods based in bad science that has been debunked and even refuted by the original authors.
As someone who is formally trained in psychology, with an emphasis in animal psychology, I looked to what works ... and that has always been positive reinforcement.
Training your dog isn't about force. It isn't about dropping them off with someone to teach them things. It certainly isn't about pain or fear or punishment.
It's about cooperation and building a bond where you each trust each other.
